We are so excited you are interested in volunteering with us at Community & Family Services, Inc.! We simply could not do what we do without the help of volunteers. Whether you can volunteer once a week, month or year; individually or with a group of friends, family or colleagues, whatever your commitment, every hour of assistance helps us ensure our community members will have access to help with whatever their need.
Community & Family Services, Inc. is a Community Action Agency. This means that we promote the participation of the entire community in the reduction or elimination of poverty. We assess public needs and partner with community members and government officials to provide programs and resources necessary for individuals and families to thrive.
One of the ways we work to promote the participation of the entire community is to encourage our community members to volunteer within our programs that have the option available. This could include helping in our food pantries and thrift stores with organizing and distributing food and household item donations to clients, assisting in preparing activities for our Head Start classrooms or volunteering your time to our Huntington House Homeless Shelter.
If you are interested in volunteering within our programs and aren’t sure how to get started, send your contact information and how you are interested in helping to volunteer@comfam.org! We look forward to meeting you.
Age Guidelines
Head Start
Volunteers must be 18 years old or older to volunteer for our Head Start program.
Huntington House Homeless Shelter
Volunteers must be 18 years old or older to volunteer for our Huntington House Homeless Shelter.
Food Pantries
We have a wide range of ages that are able to help us in our Food Pantries!
Volunteers under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. For every four volunteers that are under 16 years old, there needs to be one adult over the age of 18 years old for guidance and assistance.
Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 18 years old do not need an accompanying adult, but do need guardian signature before they can begin volunteering.
Volunteer Attire Guidelines
Jeans, shorts and t-shirts are acceptable for volunteer activities. We ask that our volunteers wear closed-toed shoes for your safety.
Volunteer Waiver Form
Before attending your first session of volunteering, please print and complete the Volunteer Waiver Form. This must be on file for the program you are assisting before you can begin. If you are wanting a group to volunteer together, please fill out our Group Waiver Form as well.
